Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) Information
Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI)Resources
This report covers technological options related to thermal and electric efficiency, alternative fuel use, clinker substitution, and carbon capture and storage related options that can help the cement industry reduce its CO2 emissions. The report also elaborates on policy interventions and financial resources needed for the diffusion of identified technical options. The study is the product of a joint effort of International Energy Agency and World Business Council for Sustainable Development's Cement Sustainability Initiative.
Getting the Numbers Right (GNR) is an initiative of the WBCSD's Cement Sustainability Initiative that aims to establish a CO2 accounting and reporting standard for the cement industry. Participants of GNR submit CO2 related data according to a template. On this website, useful statistics based on the data provided by GNR members are accessible.
Type: Conference Papers
This conference paper provides an overview of the alternative fuels that can be used in the cement industry and demonstrates an example where a modelling program is used to select a suitable alternative fuel for a cement plant with ~2900 t/d clinker production.
The report represents the independent research efforts of the European Cement Research Academy (ECRA) to identify, describe and evaluate technologies which may contribute to increase energy efficiency and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from global cement production today as well as in the medium and long-term future.
