Directed Green Liquor Utilization Pulping

Originally demonstrated in pulp mills in Finland, directed green liquor utilization technology is based on the use of green liquor for pretreatment wood chips prior to pulping process – by re-routing about 20 to 30% of the green liquor from causticizing to the pulp digestor. Green Liquor possesses hydrosulfide ions which can accelerate the pulping. The use of green liquor has reportedly led to increased pulp yields, high fiber strength, reduction in alkali demands by 50% and offloading of lime kiln by up to 30%.
