The Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC) consists of glass manufacturing members and associate members such as, suppliers, customers and processors that are vital to the glass industry and university members. The GMIC provides council to their members through its 200 years of experience and gives them access to developing technologies with low risk and the opportunity to maximize profit through efficiency improvements. Such improvements are available in the publication annex, where documentation regarding alkaline earth products or selective glass batching between others are mentioned. The GMIC promotes information about best practice technologies for the glass industry and focuses on energy improvement programs in glass production, e.g. submerged combustion melter or waste heat management (GMIC, 2011).
