The Institute of Technical Information for Building Materials Industry of China, founded in 1958, is a research unit under the State Council, which is funded by the central government and managed by the China Building Material Industry Association (CBMIA). It comprises of departments dedicated to research on cement, glass, ceramics, new building materials and non-ferrous metal, and has publications particularly on cement itself and building material industry. ITIBMIC is one of the key organizations working on cement technologies and materials, with direct relevance to energy efficiency.
The institute is the organiser for eight nationwide building materials professional networks with network members coming from over all the country. Each year, it produces dozens of reports based on information research, and has more than 1000 publications since 1958, with emphasis on macro-economic operation and market dynamic analyses of the building material industry as well as new corporate products and technologies (China Building Materials Industry, 2011). The institute has 24 databases of various focuses and operates the website of Building Material Information (BMI, 2011 - in Chinese).
