Recuperative Oxy Fired Furnaces - CO System ®

The Combined Oxyfired System® (CO System®) is basically the combination of recuperative and oxyfuel furnaces. With oxyfuel furnaces reuse of waste gas heat is often not possible. The combination of both burner types (recuperative and oxygen) in one furnace however permits re-using the entire waste gas heat to preheat the combustion air for the recuperative burners in the recuperators. By combining the recuperative and oxygen burners it is now possible to reduce energy consumption to a much lower level compared to traditional recuperative furnaces. The system lowers the investment and operational costs – due to reduced oxygen need – and causes less corrosion of the crown.
