Sequencer Installation

The system demand in a compressed air system is determined by the sum of average demand of different users. Plants with wide variations in air demand need a system that can meet the peak demand requirements while also operating efficiently under part-load. While oversized compressors are sometimes installed to assure meeting the peak demand conditions, installation of multiple compressors with smaller and/or varying sizes can offer a more efficient solution. However, multiple compressors bring along their own control challenges. Cascade pressure control that is traditionally used to control systems with multiple compressors does not necessarily offer optimal system operation.

Electronic sequential controllers, which control multiple compressors around a single set pressure match the compressors to the system demand as closely as possible and therefore offer a more efficient operation.
