United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. One of the aims of UNIDO is to promote and accelerate sustainable industrial development in developing countries and economies in transition.  One of the areas the UNIDO focuses is related to fostering environmental sustainability. UNIDO has organized several workshops on energy efficiency and CO2 emissions reduction in the industry. UNIDO also played a key role in the development of the ISO management system standard for energy, ISO 50001).

UNIDO has various reports and studies on industrial energy efficiency for various industries - including iron and steel, cement, pulp and paper, chemical and petrochemicals, and glass.
